Dr. Alphonso Buie

Dr. Alphonso Buie is an author, educator, and certified Sustainability Management professional from Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Buie completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri where he received a B.S. in Agricultural Sciences and MBA in Business Administration. He received a Doctorate in Business Administration, with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and Management, from Argosy University in 2014, and has since remained dedicated to the development and implementation of customized strategies that nurture and produce well-trained and skilled leaders.
As an educator, Dr. Buie continually demonstrates his understanding of the roles that clear and concise two-way communication plays into the academic success of his students, and employs both talking and listening as tools to help students overcome the anxiety associated with subjects that are as alien as they are foreign.
The most recent execution of these methods have occurred during his newly accepted position as a Program Chair for Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia. Within this role Dr. Buie assists with student recruitment, retention, advisement, job placement, and dutifully plans, develops, organizes, reviews and, when necessary, makes improvements to the institution's Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Program.
Dr. Buie instructs a number of courses which include Introduction to Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, Travel Industry and Travel Geography, Business Etiquette and Communication, Hotel Operation Management, Event Planning, and Food and Beverage Management just to list a few.
In his previous position as Business Professor for the AACSB accredited Oklahoma State University, Dr. Buie embarked on a fellowship with China Agricultural University’s International College of Beijing to lecture undergraduate courses while living abroad in China for 4.5 years. He simultaneously taught graduate courses for the institution’s International School of Business where Dr. Buie assisted with student selection and implemented a proactive student review system to monitor at-risk or low performing students- a system whose implementation resulted in an increase of academic success among students.
The Chicago native has also functioned as an Adjunct Faculty member for American Public University, where he instructed online courses for non-traditional students, and for Cabrini University’s College of Business as the institution’s McGraw-Hill Connect Experience instructor. Innovation involves creativity and a willingness to try new things. Dr. Buie not only understands this, but exemplifies it as well. Proof of such is easily found in the wake of his entrepreneurial endeavors, which have not only contributed to his own personal and professional growth, but have served to the benefit of his consultation clients.
His personal touch and unique perspective make him a valuable resource for small businesses seeking to increase their competitiveness, and his knack for developing resource allocation techniques have proven to be more than beneficial for his clients.

Dr. Buie’s ability to motivate those around him is uncanny to say the least. His writings include works demonstrating the manner in which representation can shape readers' perspectives, help them learn about their community or the communities of others, and serve as effective countermeasures with regard to dispelling stereotypical tropes.
“My Two Dads” (2018), “Stuck” (2019), and “My Two Moms” (2019) provide their readers with the opportunity to experience these things and provide them with characters who not only resemble their target audience, but characters who they share similar experiences with as well. Dr. Buie currently lives in the Atlanta metropolitan area where he remains dedicated to growing as an educator who values real-world learning, creating and experimenting with inventive ideas to assist new and existing clients, and to continually publish works that are as representative as they are relatable.
